John & Sheena > The restaurant at our hotel 'specialised' in Spanish cuisine. We were after Lao stuff. They had a small menu including buffalo (sorry no buffalo), chicken (sorry no chicken) and fish (yes!). The flamenco-inspired music was a bit out of place too...

John & Sheena > Breadruit grew abundantly on the tree in the middle of the hotel. They were worried that one might fall on a guest. No joke, the big ones would kill you. They talked about a 20 kilo one they'd taken down earlier that year.

John & Sheena > By day our room one of three in a traditional Lao long house usually shared by one family.
John & Sheena > Our bedroom with it's rustic charm was actually paper thin and devoid of any furniture except a small bamboo stool. The mossie net was in the way of the fan and didn't cover the bed. We got bitten every night.
